Yeah, that too big to fail thing was a bit of a joke, but they probably have stronger fundamentals than Mozy.
The only thing I like about off site storage is you could have a devastating disaster (fire, hurricane/tornado etc) and lose it all. Amazon's S3 is probably in a different geographical region so at least your data would be safe.
