Everyone,

Thanks for letting me post and I appreciate all the comments and
advice and the friendly jovial nature and good time you all have here.
I've learned a lot technically and I greatly enjoy the social aspect
of the forum.

More specifically about Tom's questions, the answer to last question
about the preference for the Bullet and it's unique qualities for us =
it comes down to size as I'll explain. I'm helping a local
entrepreneur here in the small jungle frontier town of Puerto Ayacucho
Venezuela with his fledgling WISP. He's not a tech and has no
technical or radio or networking background but he's managed to learn
along the way (the limited amount one can learn on their own without
the help of a forum like this and everyone sharing so many years worth
of experience). By trade the guy is a public accountant but he managed
to get a small WISP off the ground and start his own Internet cafe.
There's still no broadband here in this town so the guy bought a
satellite connection. The WISP was originally all 2.4GHz but the noise
floor has made using WDS between APs or 2.4GHz backhauls unworkable -
things he used to do that now don't work. He badly needed a 5.8GHz
backhaul and there's just about nothing locally available. That's one
of the problems with doing business in Latin America. So we're at the
mercy of those friends we know who are traveling back and forth to the
US whom we can impose upon to put something for us in their suitcase.
If size was no issue we could go a lot of different ways. The Bullets
are about the only thing we can reasonably expect someone to bring
down for us. We're currently using some NS5's and they're working nice
but we lost one to lightning the other day plus we just need more
backhauls and the new Bullet5M seems perfect. We can find high gain
5.8GHz antennas here locally from time to time so for the radio the
Bullet is a natural. We've been waiting for the Bullet5HP for quite a
while and now it's mutated into the Bullet5M. We'd really like to
finally get this show on the road. My personal vested interest is this
guy's network is how I get my internet. Also we're trying to really
get this network running good because rumor has it DSL based broadband
is just around the corner. The fiber connecting us to the rest of
civilization is laid and now they're just trying to get the fiber/
copper interfaces around town installed and activated. So once a
faster/lower latency connection to the internet is made this system
should be great. The guy has all the right connections so he's been
able to get his APs on the right towers so his coverage is great. He
should really be able to clean up since he can add a client by
slapping a NS2Loco on the house and he's done compared to the phone
company trying to learn as they go doing DSL for the first time. The
local telco here is not the big time player it is up north.

Again thanks everyone for letting me post.
