Nello (www.nelloinc.com) and others have gable end mounts you can put
pipe in. For 10' or less we use 1-1/2" EMT. For more, it is not
cheap. Rigid conduit or pipe from the plumbing supplier. The pipe
comes in 21' lengths. It is heavy and expensive.
We used to use the mounts from Nello. We now mount 2 pieces of 1-5/8"
Unistrut with 1/4" lags and clamp the pipe to it.
