Is it? When something like Ubiquiti can be had for $79, with no learning curve, and standardization could be accomplished? Relief aid is mission critical, and supporting and access equipment can be tough. I've observed donated junk gear gets left behind. However, I'd agree, it might be a nice gesture to ask those giving aid if they could use it, just in case.
However, I argue there are few items that are not atleast worth their weitht in shipping. Many Liquidators would accept donated equipment. And EBAY has proven, that just about anything can be sold for a profit. One mans's trash is another man's product in short supply.
