I had a problem customer than was always getting CPE Ethernet knocked out. Switched to shielded CAT5 with a pac wireless POE adapter that grounds the jacket through the 3rd prong ground of the house plug and problem went away. Also it helps if the pole the the CPE is mounted to is grounded as well. If its on a roof you may have to run a ground wire to the pole to dissipate static.
