I am not saying he.net is bad, they are just not tier 1. http://bgp.he.net/report/peers Good Peers, just not as many places as a Tier1. -- Justin Wilson <[email protected]> Aol & Yahoo IM: j2sw http://www.mtin.net/blog xISP News http://www.twitter.com/j2sw Follow me on Twitter Wisp Consulting Tower Climbing Network Support From: Glenn Kelley <[email protected]> Reply-To: WISPA General List <[email protected]> Date: Mon, 3 Jan 2011 14:12:07 -0500 To: WISPA General List <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [WISPA] he.net I have found HE.net <http://HE.net> to be one of the better organizations out there. Take a peek @ their peering map - they also run one of the better IPv6 tunnels out there. Why do you say they have peering issues? One of the reasons I like them is because they have an open peering policy: http://he.net/peering.html to see their network from a slightly different view lets peek here: http://www.peeringdb.com/view.php?asn=6939&peerParticipantsPublics_mOrder=So rter_local_asn&peerParticipantsPublics_mDir=ASC According to www.isitup.org <http://www.isitup.org> - they are online :-) They have one of the better looking glasses on the web - so lets use that real quick: Peering View for HE.net <http://HE.net> http://bgp.he.net/AS6939 Peering View for Cogent http://bgp.he.net/AS174 Peering view for AT&T http://bgp.he.net/AS7018 There are a number of folks who, at the end of the year, are dropping peering relationships that have expired - so it could be simply that your providers' providers provider may have had their peering change. Not that uncommon. You will see a drop on all of them - and then they will build back up. A great website however to see what is happening is www.TRACEROUTE.org <http://www.TRACEROUTE.org> - from here you can use looking glasses and routers world wide to check the status of your network, bgp paths etc...
