Has anyone run into any intellectual property companies claiming patent infringement for use of 802.11 in "Business Operations" or providing "User-level Hotspot Services to the Public"? One of our customers just got a letter from an attorney representing Innovatio IP Ventures, offering to settle up now for "a license with highly favorable terms."

Leaving aside such terms as "slimeballs" and "preying on society"... Since this means pretty much anyone who uses Ubiquiti, and could probably be extended to apply to Canopy even though they aren't using 802.11, I was wondering if anyone else had run into this. My customer is much higher profile than I am, and so is a better target, but I figure it's only a matter of time.

It also means pretty much any company in the entire world, so I figure they have their work cut out for them.
