It appears to be able to monitor water clarity / color against the white colored doohickies hanging below. Not a problem off Hawaii but I wish they had sensors able to determine water clarity off of florida about 20 miles down the coast it could tell you an awful lot about whether to spend the time and money to go fishing or diving coupled along with the temperature and wind data NOAA already provides.
