How much capacity does your network run now? How much would you ideally like?
Is connectivity poor all over the island? If you brought in a gig, could you
sell it? If connectivity is poor or expensive, maybe you could pre-sell a bunch
of dedicated services and buy some gig licensed links from Ceragon or Siae to
get back to Hibernia. Again, I don't know your market's potential, but maybe
something big to think about would be from Moncton to the island, through the
island to the other end, then out to Truro. Hibernia could take you back to the
states through Halifax and Montreal. That's kind of a pie in the sky, but if
connectivity on the island sucks... Topography and available vertical real
estate are important, but look to position your relay points near larger
sources of potential revenue.

NetFlix won't set you up with your own box until you're at something like 10
gigs.

NetFlix also doesn't appear to have any peering locations in Canada, so you'd
have to come down here to get connectivity. I'm not sure where the coop group
stands on viable locations outside of Chicago and Atlanta. Of the US locations,
you'd want to go to Chicago, Ashburn or New York City. There are a few Canadian
exchanges, but they're nowhere near as big as the ones I listed and you may not
have enough Canadian WISP brethren interested in joining up to make one of
those locations viable. For example, TorIX has 143 participants, then in second
place Peer1 - Vancouver has 30. Equinix Ashburn has 343, Equinix Chicago has
215 and Any2 Los Angeles has 313.

If you think there are a bunch of WISPs up north looking to bond together to
reduce pricing, join the WISPA Coop list and let your intentions be known. I
can help find transport.

Yes, Prince Edward Island, but the address is used only for the holding company.

Our issue is any upstream link has to come through either Bell Aliant or the
local Cableco, and as an example, a 50 Mbps feed costs over $2k per month.

Honestly, I did not think of Hibernia, but I am very grateful to see it. A
couple of towers to their node in Truro is do-able, and there was a ~50 mile
direct link in place from the other side for a while to feed one site here, but
Truro would require at least one repeater to get over the terrain nearby.

If anyone has any tips/comments on improving the economics of a location, I
would love to hear them, and if anyone has done any Netflix caching outside of
a major facility.

Thanks.
