Hi, Use a STAR-OS board running the latest V2 software. I have a number of links using this hardware and I NEVER have any problems. Also, make sure that you use low gain antennas at most 12dbi directionals.
The sensitivity of the receiver is, I think, more important than pumping out more power. Over the last couple of years we have experimented with antennas from 8dbi up to 27dbi and, to be honest, the lower gain are a lot easier to install and give much better long term stability.
