According to my Planet3wireless cwna book, max power for point-to-multipoint is 30dBm *into* antenna and 36dBm EIRP (i.e. 6dBi antenna gain). For point-to-point, the limits are even higher, allowing an increase of 3dBi antenna gain for every 1dB reduction in input power to the antenna. Thus, with his 14dBm input power (16 dB less than max), he could increase antenna gain by 48dB!*!*! to 54dBi and still comply with US regulations. Nobody makes antenna that focused and, if they did, you'd never get it aligned. Now, I'm not saying that 21dB gain antennas are necessary or even desirable, but rather that they would appear to me to be legal in this case. Am I missing something? Wouldn't be the first time. -- Earl Barfield -- Academic & Research Technologies / Information Technology Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 Internet: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------ Yahoo!
