Since I am responding to an email posted over a month back, I don't
know how helpful this will be but in case you are still looking for an
answer here it is:

STA3 will not set its NAV because the MAC layer (where the NAV is set)
will never see the CTS packet. STA3's RF front-end will not decode the
packet since it is not on the designated channel.

However, all STAs on Channel 1 will set their NAVs - even if they are
not in the same BSS. So if you have 2 APs using the same channel, all
the STAs in both networks will set their NAV when thy hear an RTS or a
CTS from any STA in either network.
