Thanks Frank for your reply. I will do research on PEAP. Further, as I mentioned, I'd like to assign IP to the WLAN users using my DHCP server and I'd like the users to get authenticated by LDAP before assigning the IP. How do I that? My thought is to have a URL and if the users go the URL, they will be asked for their user name and password which is authenticated by my AD. Once they authenticated then they will be assigned the IP. Is it possible? Awaiting for reply, Regards, Janakan Rajendran
No my friend. It is not possible. How do you want to do ANYTHING with a user in an IP network without giving him his IP address in a first place? LDAP runs on TCP/IP. You need an IP address first then you can proceed with any further moves like LDAP authentication etc. DHCP is a pretty simple feature. The only thing you can do here is that you filter unwanted MACs and you don't allow some to receive IP address. You can configure your DHCP this way. And basically, that's all. Other means of authentication are based on higher level and you may want to consider your LDAP, certificates, login+password etc. TO get users MACs investigate arp cache table of your server. You will find all IPs and MACs of computers that have in any way contacted your server and have been cached.
