Uhm, sounds complicated :)

Maybe we can initialize match_type in proto_register_field_init()
so developer don't need to care if it's sorted or no...

We can do it also during first use of match_strval_fast() (which might be
better option)

Attaching patch, btw. I changed _fast to _ext.
