Hi Guys

Well I have everything ticked that is relevant to ICMP Packets ( Long ago )
...
One small point .. In order to file share, Windows Firewall must be disabled
anyway .. So it has been disabled therefore all the points related to WFW
are not relevent in my case ( unless of course some things are working in
the background ).. I have protection to cover myself but nothing that would
stop me being able to Ping M1 and to get a reply..

It is very strange that an operating system would allow you to disable ICMP
Packets especially as they are related to network pings .. May be Microsoft
thought that on large networks .. Some computers might be vulnerable to
unscrupulous employees so they gave you the user an option not to reply to
unwanted pings ???

Why would an operating system allow you to disable ICMP?

ICMP has no security issues and IS a vital part of what keeps TCP/IP working
properly.

Allowing users to configure/disable this is as silly as when clueless
firewall admins block all ICMP and then wonder why their users have problem
accessing the network and browsing the internet.
