You cannot pass <@userreferenceargument>, which is already formatted as a search 
argument, but you can pass the user reference any way you want. Here's the complete 
content of a "My snippet" that I named "User Ref as Hidden form arg:"

<INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="_UserReference"  VALUE="<@USERREFERENCE>">
