I have been struggling with an odbc connection to a pervasive.2000 database that
connects to an application called Maximizer (contact management app). It seems that
the developers (Maximizer) have disabled access to the database via odbc so they can
sell you an odbc connector to enable it. ($1000)

Perhaps postgress does something similar?

I wish I knew more about PostgresSQL. I can guarantee that you need to leave
the setting as a System data source type (I was with EveryWare/Pervasive for
almost 5 years from Tango 1.0 to Tango 2000) but I can't provide any further
assistance with regards to your database engine.

Sorry,

I am not familiar with PostgresSQL but I am familiar with WiTango. You must
set up your datasource as a System datasource, not File.

Hope this helps,
