I think the problem may lie in the fact that the tafs on the CD were  
not coming from a windows box in the first place.  I've had this  
problem before.  The problem is the line delimiter which gets all  
screwed up if the files were saved as anything except in windows.  What  
I would do is open the files in text pad and force a save with a  
windows delimiter.  You'll see things work just dandy.
