heres my stab at this...
underscores are legitamate characters for variable
names.
When it looks at:
@@first_@@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
i think witango is seeing the above as 3
sections:
@@first_
<----valid variable name
@@last
@email.com
as for the fix to this, i think your <@CHAR
95> is the best and maybe only way since you cant put a space between the var
and the _.

The underscore is not IN the
variable, it is between 2 variables that form the email address:
@@first_@@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Mail action for some reason does not
read this underscore, it removes it as it would remove a space between 2
words. But <@CHAR 95> does the trick.

I've done this hundreds of times, and never had a
problem saving any type of character in a variable.
