It can be a little more tricky with OS X. You have to remember that Apache(on X and X server) is set up to use a user "www" with a group "www". And then tango uses the user "witango". You should give the group "www" full rights to your webfiles, and make sure witango is a member of www. Also, if you are creating/copying files on the server, check the permissions after you create them. They will default to the user you were logged in as as the owner, and be associated with your default group, either admin or staff, and the group probably won't have full rights. With OS X Server 10.2 you can set the server to apply parent rights to children which makes things much easier, and is why this is much less of an issue on windows.

If you are using Mac OS X Server, the Workgroup Manager Utility will be the
easiest and most reliable way to set permissions for the file/folder. Apple
has gone to great lengths to make their servers hyper-secure straight out of
the box, and using their tools to manage permissions seems the best way to
keep from inadvertently making your server vulnerable to attack.

If not, try the SuperGetInfo utility from BareBones -- it allows you to set
permissions using a nice gui interface.

Hi list, what happens if a folder is absent - > error?
What about writing into an existing folder, will the file to be written be
created?
What do the user rights have to be owner, chmod?

I always get a Cannot open the specified file (-303) Seems again to be a
lack of rights...
