Hi Steve,

Just today, while doing a bit of DNS configuration on my personal sites, I
noticed Verisign (Network Solutions) has a feature to "Manage Your Domain
Names Through XML"

https://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/manage-it/xml-help/index.jhtml
(Above URL may word-wrap)

Which includes: "Check domain name availability for .com, .net, .org, .biz,
.info, .name and .us with real-time registry look-up."

It looks like simple XML over HTTP which <@URL> can do. I think this is
meant for Resellers to build their own front-end to Network Solutions for
Domain Registrations and such. But of course there might be an SSL factor to
consider with <@URL>.

Otherwise, I might just suggest checking out:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Command+line+Whois+tool

There seems to be lots of tools available that you could incorporate into
your code, for these kinds of queries.

Hope this helps. Cheers.....
