None of this is true with OSX you can connect to Mac without AppleTalk. OSX
supports LDAP,and uses samba to connect. This should not be a problem if you
van upgrade to OSX.

Min req. G3 400Mhz 512 RAM is you are connecting to an upgradeable Mac box
Sonnet G4 800Mhz card at $399 is best way to go.
