Do you have the JAS running? Did you write the "stub" class to interface with Tango?

The JAS server is a very special thing that hardly anybody uses, and definitly isn't running by default. I would suggest that you not get used to it either, because With has spent time revamping their bean handling code, and claim that there is no reason to use the JAS anymore.
