as far as I know when you log in your ip address gets written to a text file (I was curious once as to how it knew if someone else was logged in) If you give permission for a file (StoreUser.tmp) to be written in to the includes folder of the Admin app your problem should disappear...I am using windows however and so it may be something else on Mac....
Otherwise if you are in New York it may be due to lack of electricity.
