We are trying to install Witango Server for Linux. Are there any clear and complete instructions regarding the required linux software and the install procedure? We have an installation guide pdf that was on the Witango site in June. There is no Linux installation guide there now that I can find. We have the Read Me file that comes with the current Witango package (was it changed in July?). These two documents don't seem to agree.

We were told that Witango 5 was compatible with RH8. The pdf (that I no longer see on the website says RH8. The most recent Read Me only mentions RH9. What we have is a standard RH8 distribution. We've been stuck on these installation issues for quite a while. Can anyone help? Are clear and complete instructions available somewhere?

Thanks,
Philip Morgan

Below is the latest description of the struggle from our Linux administrator:

The ReadMe.html that came with the
software says WARNING- install Java 1.4.1 JVM. The earlier (pdf) document
says it is only necessary to suport javabeans or jdbc, which I do not
believe we care about. I'm going ahead without it.

The ReadMe.html file said ODBC version 3 is required, though the earlier
pdf document said nothing that I see about what version. I think what I
installed supports 3, but I'm not sure. I installed unixODBC 2.2.2, which
appears to support ODBC3 according to release notes on the unixodbc site.

The Witango instructions say to copy
/Applications/Witango/Server/install/Plug-Ins/wapache2.so. This does not
exist - a file by that name does exist under install/Plug-ins, so I will
assume that is what they mean.

I added the lines to httpd.conf and copied the library file, then tried
restarting apache:

Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 215 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/wapache2.so into server:
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5: version `GLIBCPP_3.2.2' not found (required by
/etc/httpd/modules/wapache2.so)

There shouldn't be a syntax error, as I copied directly from ReadMe.html
into apache's conf file, just after all the other LoadModule's. I'm not
sure what needs to be installed to get GLIBCPP_3.2.2.

The required Glibc (they specify 2.3.2 or higher IS installed):
[EMAIL PROTECTED] install]# rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.3.2-4.80.6

HOWEVER... If I try the start_witango.sh script I get this:

/usr/local/witango/witangod: error while loading shared libraries:
libssl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
