I would typically define both a development site and a production site while storing my taf files on the machine that is running the dev studio. I've even had situations where I had three sites, adding a separate QA site. It passes my development testing, I move it to QA. It passes QA, I move it to production.
As much as the OS X interface with FTP helps, it is still not the same. I understand about the libraries not being ported over yet, but if/when they are, could you please look at bringing this feature back?

easier on OS X to interface with FTP. You can now log onto an FTP site

Simply type ftp://<server addr>/<path> and OS X will mount the FTP server as
a volume on your desktop. It make deployment quite easy.
