Bill, I had a problem with the datasource timing out and causing the server to hang for a minute or two. I changed my datasource timeout to 24 hours. This was hapening every 30 minutes. This does not sound like the same problem. I fixed it by increasing the datasource timeout in the Tango ini file.
I have managed to crash the server by doing a direct dbms action that was not properly formed, like a cartesian join on big tables. Maybee you have a db access that is expecting a value in the where clause and it is not there causing a huge dataset result and crashing the server. I would think you that you would see a different error than what you are getting.
