This was an interesting 4 or 5 hours.
Windows 2000 Advanced Server Latest Service Pack
MS SQL 200 SP3
Filemaker V6.-4
Excel 2000 10.2614.2625
After doing a major data cleaning of a table using Filemaker I exported the
data ( this bug happened no matter what kind of export was used even from a
data query directly to Excel)
Anyway I opened the exported file in excel on windows 2000 Excel 200 latest
updates etc.
I could see that the data looked fine.
The data has about 20 columns and 14,000 rows.
I import the data was imported without error.
But when I search the data about 5,000 rows fail to import values from at
least two of the columns. In the import transformation everything matches up
fine so it is not that.
But I can see from the primary key that the value in the excel table row is
there but not in the SQL database.
All the other values are right so it is not as case of the data getting
scrambled.
I tried every which way to import this always with the same result.
Finally in desperation I used a direct import from the FMP database ( which
I built by opening up the excel spreadsheet with Filemaker and it does the
conversion).
Using the FMP ODBC driver I ran the import and it while slower was perfect.
So there is a bug somewhere. Anybody else run into this?
