Yes, custom scope wouldn't work. It sounds like you should use either user scope and/or arguments.

That would mean to do what I want to do.
Create a course and then let them create another course that is similar I can only do one of two things
1. Find a way to keep passing all the request scope values in the arguments 2. Assign these to a user scope and then purge each one of them once they are done.
