This is a wild guess, but based on the fact that my debugging lines with
5.5 show "[request$ Vars]", not "[local$ Vars]":

Is it possible that there is still an older version of Witango or Tango
running as a service also, and that it is being used ahead of Version
5.5? If so, then the "request" scope is really a custom scope on your
system.

Open your services and see what you have running under Witango and/or Tango.
