Thanks for replying, but I don't think this is accurate. My FileMaker
Pro 8 distribution CD comes with an xODBC folder, and in the
FM8_ODBC_JDBC_Developer.pdf file it contains is the following
statement:
"This guide also documents how the ODBC and JDBC client drivers, when
used with FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server Advanced, support the
industry standards for ODBC, JDBC, and SQL (Structured Query
Language)....
You can use FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Pro Advanced, or
FileMaker Server Advanced, to create and test your database solution.
You can then share your FileMaker database solution as a data source
with ODBC- and JDBC-compliant applications, or access other ODBC data
sources using your FileMaker database solution as a client
application...
This document contains information to access and share data using
ODBC and JDBC with FileMaker Pro 8, FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced, and
FileMaker Server 8 Advanced only. For information on using ODBC and
JDBC with previous versions of FileMaker Pro, download documents from
www.filemaker.com/odbc."
I do recall there being some buzz about only accessing the advanced
server via xDBC in early FM7 days, but I take the above to say pretty
clearly that I'm supposed to be able to access FileMaker Pro now, too.

I'd be grateful if you could update us regarding the state of Witango
and FileMaker Pro 8 via ODBC or (preferably) JDBC.
Since ODBC & JDBC use the server (server advanced) and FileMaker Server 8
Advanced is not available, you won't get a valid answer on this.
