I think your IIS server knows that a TAF extension is handled by a
client plug-in, hence that error.

Alan, if you can train your users to never bookmark the taf file, but
always the default.htm file, and the default.htm normally redirects to
your taf file, then a simple batch file to swap to a "temporarily
offline" file as your default.htm would do what you want.

It's that training users thing that is so hard!
