Stephen,
I'm not sure, unfortunately. I can connect with VPN Tracker and then
use the Mac Remote Desktop Client (from MS) or just connect to shared
folders via the Finder/Go/Connect to server option. I can also fire
up Parallels and then within Windows start up the GlobalVPN software.
I think that if you are using the Mac's built-in VPN capabilities it
might be shared, but it doesn't seem to be that way with VPN Tracker.
But then again, I haven't had much time to play around with it, so
I'm not sure. Tough to know who to ask - Parallels or Equinux (VPN
Tracker developer).

Jason,
thanks for the follow up. We got it all worked out. we were able to
use the "connection wizard" within XP to connect. But this has only
been successful in certain networks but not others.
Is it possible to VPN with the Mac OS and then go into the
Parallels XP and not have to do it there?

Stephen,
I've connected to our VPN in the datacenter with both the
GlobalVPN (we have a Sonicwall firewall) from windows running in
Parallels and also with VPN Tracker from the MacOS. How are you
trying to connect? (Through which OS and apps?)

It really is the best of all worlds, IMHO, especially if you
develop for multiple platforms, and have to test your work. You
can do it all from one machine.
I have a mac pro, and with 4 cores, and parallels seems to only
use ONE core, and it still is faster than my old 3ghz P4 laptop.
And leaves tons of power for all else. I had a mac book first,
and it had great power, but only 2 gigs of ram. I have 6 gigs in
the mac pro, and boy does that make a difference.

OK - so maybe a bit OT, but still...
I got a brand new MacBook Pro (the one they just release with
Core 2 Duo) and have Parallels/Windows XP on it (still
installing stuff, but Witango's on). It is AMAZINGLY fast to
run Windows in a window. I am totally blown away, and now have
IIS, Apache, Witango (dev and server) as well as SQL Server
2005 running on it already.
I've never really loved working in the dev studio on the Mac
when compared with Windows (I hope I hope I hope that this will
change with the next Java-based studio), but now it's a non-
issue as I'm currently working in Apple Mail and have Windows
open in the background so I can finally do everything on one
machine and periodically clone the Windows virtual machine so I
have an easier roll-back when software inevitably goes hinky.
Apple's really done an amazing job with the hardware, and
Parallels is just fantastic. I hope Apple just buys them and
builds it into 10.5.
Sorry - just had to post this, and figured it was good to let
people know how stuff's working in new environments.
