I do it millions of times a day, but not with oracle. Have done with mysql, mssql, primebase, and probably a couple of others, but not oracle. However, I don't think it would be any different with oracle. I can send you a simple taf that shows how it works if you email me off list.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply. We don't have this working, I'm wondering if anyone
has done this with Witango.

It would be great to have a taf (or method call) select the image from the blob and write the image file directly into the src="" tag. I've seen some
asp and other examples where image.taf would set the response type to
"image/gif" or jpg and then perform a binary write of the image file.

I was hoping there would be a way to retrieve the blobbed .jpg and display
it without writting it to the filesystem first.

Thanks,
Matt

You mean you have:

<img src="image.taf?_uid=1234">

Then image.taf does a SELECT, make an http header and write the BLOB.

Subject: Witango-Talk: Reading from BLOBs

Has anyone used Witango to read BLOBs from Oracle?

We're trying to retrieve binary images (.jpgs, gifs) from a BLOB
field in an Oracle database, placing the resultant .jpg/.gif file in
an <img src= ...> tag on an html page.

It appears that we'll need to create/use an Oracle stored procedure
to accommodate this, as described here:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/
ImagesFromOracleOverHTTP9i.php

Has anyone done anything like this? Have any tips for us?

Thanks,
Matt
