Sorry, LAMP just means Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP.

Yes, I have the Quad Xeon. You won't be disappointed. I have been eyeballing that 8 core baby.

Robert I will keep all this in mind but at this point a lot of what I have contracted uses FileMaker and PHP and the ISP I use for that stuff is all Mac so he will take care of installs and For now I have more tools then I
know how to handle.

But tell me about LAMP back channel since I am not even sure what it is.

Anyway it is Mac OSX server for now.

Eventually I hope to replace my aging Power PC 933 with new Mac Desktop with Quad ZEON then I can run multiple OS system and have my big screen all on one box. Then my Windows stuff and boxes will just server for a test bed when I am writing for Windows only Apps and then only after I probably do
all the development on the Mac.

But 1st I need to get through these projects and pile up more money in the
bank

Just food for thought, if you really start doing more with PHP, you
really want to move more to a LAMP type setup. Mac is MUCH better
than windows for php, because of its unix core. There is a lot of
stuff you can read out there about poor performance of php on
windows. Mac is fine, but one of the BEST advantages of using PHP, is
taking advantage of all the code and useful stuff available to you
out there, and most is written specifically for LAMP.

Also, to install modules and stuff, is as easy as....

sudo yum install php-pear

sudo yum install php-gd

Whatever. It is much more difficult on the mac. You will be looking
for a solution one day, and find a great one, and find it depends on
a couple of special modules, or something, and it will be a pain to
get up in OS X.

Just food for thought. Also, LAMP provides the best performance per
dollar I have seen.

Thanks Ben I will give it a try. My ISP for this project is Mac and

I may move my development to Mac also but would be good to get this
on my
Windows server anyway.

Check for a GO_PEAR.BAT in your php install folder.
run it, it will ask a few questions and then you run the PEAR.BAT
