I think the reason it is diff, is the server already has most or all of this on it. So if you install from a third party, best use os x client, not server.

Well, for PHP for instance, in the notes, the install I used said that there were slight differences in the installation for either one. That is why I asked.

Anyway, I will give this a try on a new box and see how it goes.

Thanks Robert,

Questions

1. Do you know if the OSX version is good for OSX Desktop AND OSX Server?

Also, I couldn't tell which versions of each were installed?

Thanks for this lead though.

There is also XAMPP. XAMPP is a very easy to install Apache Distribution for Linux, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X. The package includes the Apache web server, MySQL, PHP, Perl, a FTP server and phpMyAdmin.

Robert I will keep all this in mind but at this point a lot of what I have contracted uses FileMaker and PHP and the ISP I use for that stuff is all Mac so he will take care of installs and For now I have more tools then I
know how to handle.
But tell me about LAMP back channel since I am not even sure what it is.
Anyway it is Mac OSX server for now.
Eventually I hope to replace my aging Power PC 933 with new Mac Desktop with Quad ZEON then I can run multiple OS system and have my big screen all on one box. Then my Windows stuff and boxes will just server for a test bed when I am writing for Windows only Apps and then only after I probably do
all the development on the Mac.
But 1st I need to get through these projects and pile up more money in the
bank
