Just use URL encoding in the replacestr:

<@ASSIGN request$replace "http://www.mywebsite.com/click.taf?vurl=http://";>

<@REPLACE STR="http://www.example.com " FINDSTR="http://"; REPLACESTR=<@VAR
request$replace ENCODING=URL> POSITION="1">

  Actually I have tried that. But I also need to replace the & in the URLs
with %26, otherwise when I pass the replaced URL it will be truncated at the
first &.

  I got that to work somehow, but there are also other normal & within the
block of text and they also got replaced by %26.....and I don't know how to
avoid that.

    You might want to tweak the string arguments, but it should do what you
want.
