Maybe it's time to try to organize an effort such as PHPNuke/
DotNetNuke and get the community working on a CMS framework for
everyone's benefit. I know I'd be happy to contribute a lot of what
I've written over time. I have a system that does a fair amount but
it could probably be simplified a bit for more general use, and then
take advantage of the 'plug-in' notions that I've built into it. We
could set it up on SourceForge as a project. Everyone could benefit
from that sort of effort.
I'd think that starting by picking apart the way the framework is set
up in some other open source projects and working forward from there
would be a good start. Maybe we should follow along with
'WitangoNuke'? (Although I'm not a fan of the name...)
The tough nut to start with is the initial list of features/
requirements to make up a system. Pages, page strucutre (navigation),
media/images, user access control (limiting access to a directory
such as 'admin'). Those are easy - but then what? Figuring out the
core functionality to create and manage sites is the first step, then
working out how to add 'modules' like blogging, forums, calendars of
events. file management, etc. Then what about localization, time/date
formats, etc. I think it would be a real aid in 'selling' Witango as
a solution.
Anyone want to step up and join a 'steering committee'? I'd think
that with the caliber of people on the list we'd be able to put
together a pretty nice solution without unduly burdening anyone.

I am about to do a CMS system for a client and I am getting a lot of

Is there a Witango Solution that does the same things?
Anyone had experience with Drupal or a Witango CMS?
We use Joomla and find it great for those clients that want to do a
LOT of
static page changes. Similar to Drupal, it's PHP-based and allows
for some
customization. There are a lot of templates for the look and a lot of
modules for things like catalogs, calendars, etc.
Surely there are Witango CMS systems? :D
