You can go another way, if you like.
User a framework insted, which you can adopt easily to a project..
Have a look at

We use ist in various sites and this is checked against most current
browsers.

1. validate your HTML. Don't even try to fix your CSS until the

standards. Without it they are in quirks mode, and they will be
quirky.
3. validate your CSS.
Once this is done, you can start de-bugging CSS. There are many
good templates and examples on the css-discuss list and AListApart.
Google is your friend.
