I've spoken to Phil and Sophie many moons ago when they purchased Tango from
Pervasive. They got a good deal, but paid alot more than $1.00 for it.

And I know from Sophie, that they have pay less as 100.000$

So, "With" have the money 10 times back and we have nothing.

Just my 1 Cent (€)

Personally I moved away from WiTango several years ago because I could see
what was happening. You can't put all the blame on With. Microsoft is a
marketing engine that no one has even come close too. PhP is free which
makes it even more attractive. The web has changed considerably in the past
few years. There are many things you can't do with WiTango that customers
want or need. Ajax is a prime example.

All in all when/if WiTango 6 is released I don't know how many people will
be around to use it as more and more, developers are taking on other
technologies leaving WiTango behind. Business-wise this is the best way to
end the life cycle of a product.

It might have been that they obtained the software in exchange for
maintaining it and supporting the user base.

I know (was told by a principle) that Starnine sold Webstar 3.02 to 4D
for $1 under that type of arrangement.

The original investor no longer wanted to try and make a buck but
didn't want to drop everything and leave the bad taste etc.
