Media over QUIC Transport Since Dublin the WG has progressed the MoQ Transport specification (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-moq-transport/) in regards to several questions like integrating Fetch, how to efficiently join tracks (join-fetch), discussing the protocol extension mechanisms, and several other issues.
The WG is currently running a consensus call on the -10 to establish an actual WG consensus on the content and what the open issues are on the MoQ Transport document. The consensus call is ongoing until April the 2nd. The WG are collecting issues on github: https://github.com/moq-wg/moq-transport or to the mailing list. During this IETF meeting the WG will continue to discuss a couple of more significant questions. This includes how to reduce time to first byte, reviewing the state for track alias, discussing the proposal for authorization. WARP Streaming Format The WARP streaming format (https://github.com/moq-wg/warp-streaming-format) has been adopted and the first WG draft will be submitted as soon as submission opens again. This document defines what an audio and video live streaming application using MoQ WG components needs to support, i.e. format for the media, catalog describing the media tracks, and how MoQ Transport is used to deliver these media tracks. Low Overhead Media Container The Low Overhead Media Container (LOC) (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-mzanaty-moq-loc/) is currently in a call for adoption as WG document that runs until the 23rd of March. Interoperability WG participants are quite active in implementing and testing the protocol proposals. With the significant amount of changes the implementers have been working hard to catch up and get functionalities in place. But the learnings from implementation are being feed back into the work. Actually being able to test if audio and video can be interoperable delivered from publisher to subscriber is one of the targets being tried out based on https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-cenzano-moq-media-interop/ Future The WG continue to discuss and work on the specifications needed to fulfill the charter. After IETF 122 a hybrid Interim meeting is planned for 5-7 of May in Stockholm. Bi-weekly virtual interim will also continue in between the IETF and hybrid meeting to progress the questions. There are still a number of functionalities that the WG will have decide on how to solve, including end-to-end media security, clearer understanding for rate adaptation will efficiently function, and many more questions.
