It never occured to me to do it this way. It's a matter of implementing it, I don't see technical objections. If I'm not mistaken, you propose 4 kinds of trees, opposed to our current version: 1. 'vertical' trees (like the current implementation), where the tree is positioned at either side of the axis (left or right) 2. 'horizontal' trees, where the tree is positioned either above or below an axis. Do you also want rotated text? Do you have a screenshot?
