I'm also encountering this with my wt-2.99.1. I downloaded 2.99.2 and 
it's okay now.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. Let me correct myself with the variables. 
They're -

BOOST_ASIO_INCLUDE -> /usr/local/include/boost-1_38/boost/asio
BOOST_DIR -> /usr/local
# If boost was installed in default location
BOOST_INCLUDE_DIRS -> /usr/local/include/boost-1_38

This works :)
