Hello, Not that I particularly love MySQL but as it is important to other people, let me ask: why is licensing a problem with MySQL at all? To me, it looks clear:
- If you are using MySQL under the GPL license, you can only use Wt under the GPL license - If you are using MySQL under a commercial license, you can use Wt under a commercial license (therefore you can apply whatever terms you want to the end result) - If you are using MySQL under a commercial license, can you use Wt under a GPL license? I am not sure but I'd say this will no be a real-world scenario. If I paid for a MySQL license, I am probably willing to pay for Wt license. Conclusion: if you want to develop closed-source applications which use Wt and the Wt::Dbo MySQL backend, you need to buy a commercial license for Wt and a commercial license for MySQL. That's more or less how Qt does it for the QtSql MySQL plugin ( http://doc.trolltech.com/4.6/sql-driver.html ) On Tue, Feb 9, 2010 at 10:19 AM, Wim Dumon <[email protected]> wrote: > 2010/2/9 mobi phil <[email protected]>: >> Back to my earlier questions: are there any news about mysql license >> issues and the mysql backend? >> > > We'll probably implement it using the drizzle client library (BSD > licensed).
