Its takes a Community to come together and decide if they want to build a
CMS, will it ever happen, I hate having to use None-Wt Tools to do this
Site, what is needed is a beta site, and it doesn't matter who is hosting
it, but many developers need full access to it; right now I have this one,
and all I want to do is develop the tools so that the Wt Community will
have a Flag Ship to show off their work in, I want this App to be a Desktop
favorite as well as a Hosted web site, so the app should be built from day
one to do both jobs, so it needs to be able to store information about
email accounts, so the user can access and store emails in this App, and
allow users to use these settings online or as a stand alone app on their
Desktop, but it needs to be powerful enough to handle all their document
needs, which means Multimedia; then we can have online Chats, see how the
system stands up to traffic, get feed back on how to improve the system,
and really put each section of code to use.
My idea with this Web site is to make a Video Series, in fact, channels
where many users can have their own series, and post code and apps to, for
Example: I create a Video Series called the Witty Wizard, where this
unfinished video I have posted, will set the pace for a video series on how
to accomplish a task in Wt, a CMS in this case, as such, I will have a
video for each task I can do in Wt, so this first step is a concept, the
next step would be to write a small app that allows you to log in, (Auth2),
then the next will be to install it on a Host (Debian), the step I'm stuck
on by the way, the next will be getting the app up and running then more
steps will add all the functionality to the system, so its a step by step
wizard approach that is based on the end result, as such I do not assume
the user watching it even knows what C is, let alone C++, so as more
content gets posted, I can reference them.
At the same time the CMS is helping us do our job, we can write Project
managers, and other tools that will help in that process, so we can expand
the Git functionality, make it easier to roll in changes and roll back
changes, and test, benchmark and track bugs using our own tools, as such,
this CMS will control every aspect of the server or machine its on, so it
grows to become a Desktop for the Server or Home PC, its the Wt Flag Ship,
building on Community support, but it requires a Community to support it,
one person could write such a system, which is why I set out to do just
that, but it will take a long time at the Rate I'm going, but if I could
get a few questions answered along the way, it would go a lot faster.
I can not go live using anything but Wt code, so this site is just a beta
of what I need this system to do now, so a Blog, Videos, Audios, Wiki, FAQ,
Documents, Forum and Calendar of Events is a starting point, and its not
that hard to do, most of the work you already have done, it just a matter
of writing a good CMS to start with, so call it what you like, Document
Retrieval System, since that is what the Front end does, but from the
programmers stand point, this system is designed to grow into the needs of
the Users, so it must be flexible, allow multiple views, be designed to
self computer translate content on the fly, and handle all the users needs
for Document Management, and do what you need it to do, but make it a
Community Project, as such, it will give us a Reason to have Events and
even host online Events, and Video Conferencing so users can join in on
Events online if they can not make it, even be able to do live feeds, so
they can talk at Events online using this CMS, no better way to show off
what you have then by using it.
If you want to take this Project to the next level, this is my idea of how
to do it, but it starts with a group of people in a Community that are
willing to work on it, otherwise its just me talking about my Dream of a
CMS like this, or working on it till someone else sees the potential in it,
then we can also talk about Monetizing the site, so we can collect money to
pay for development, we can sell the Videos on DVD's online using our
Shopping Cart, of course this is Open Source so we have rules and
regulations, so the Videos must be Open Source also, but that does not mean
you can not sell them, or sell programming time and other things that help
the Community Members, all is possible once you have the software that can
do it.
I do like to talk a lot, but I can code also, I started out in A
(Assembly), moved to B (Byte Code, this turned out to be one step back),
then to C (Where I learned to mix the two, remember inline Assembly and
Byte code), now its C++, and I know many more, but that is me, what can you
do to make this Project work, because there is not only just Me in a
Community, I am just part of it, and I defined the part I wish to play in
this project, so the rest is up to you.
I call this Project Binary Bit Flesh, because its the Meat of the System,
its also the Skin, but its more then just your average CMS, its what people
see when they think of it, I started this Project 10 years ago, and wrote 3
CMS's in that time, all based on Technology's (HTML, CGI, C#...) that died
for a reason, so I do not want to do that again, C has been around as long
as me, so its old but dependable.
