The more the merrier (usually<g>). But see below -- I think WiX v3.5 is
too far along to redo the build, especially since so much of what would
change is in the native code and therefore harder to validate. I'll ping
Rob to see if he can weigh in.

We'd love it -- and finally can, now that VC++ supports MSBuild in
v4.0. But we've avoided making such low-level changes in v3.5 to
avoid introducing compatibility problems in a point release.
(Also, fun things like "can we still be compatible with VS2005/2008?")
