definitely something we want for v4.0.

We'd love it -- and finally can, now that VC++ supports MSBuild
in v4.0. But we've avoided making such low-level changes in v3.5
to avoid introducing compatibility problems in a point release.
(Also, fun things like "can we still be compatible with
VS2005/2008?")
