Random thoughts:

 * I agree with Rob: We shouldn't change the dimensions of the existing
   BAs in 3.x releases.
 * I agree with Rob again: The hyperlink variant looks way too empty
(contrast with WixUI_Minimal since it's the closest match to
WixStdBA). OTOH, the RTF variant looks much better bigger.
 * Could you put the version label in the lower left (shared with the
buttons row) and in a smaller, grayer font? Then it would be
consistent across variants and shouldn't run into localization space
   problems.
 * The message needs to be different -- at the very least, it and
should match the initial-caps of the button labels and should be
sensitive to whether the Options button is enabled.
 * HyperLink2 could have a more descriptive name. :)

1.A few reasons: to make them the same size as the MSI UI so if you show the MSI UI it looks a bit more seamless. Adding the Welcome message needed a bit more room. And finally I think the aspect ratio is more pleasing, it looks less like a message box to me.

2.I think the problem is that RTF edit boxes just don't look good in their 3d mode, I tried to find a way but I felt this was the best compromise. Personally I don't like the new sunken look on the textboxes. Problem with this stuff is that it is personal preference.

3.Again personal preference, I liked it being at the bottom looks similar to other products. I also like the "obvious" text, I was actually asked to add it by a sales department so that might be a reason to ditch it!

4.The reason I didn't is that my other change is auto-updates and when there is an update the link is displayed after the version. The version on RTF was a bit of an afterthought and I am a bit worried there isn't room when it is translated.

My overriding reason for the resize was making it the same size as the MSI UI, that has similar white space (well grey).

Neil, this is cool. Especially appreciate the .pdf to get a review. A couple questions:

1. Why resize the dialogs? By default the dialogs are pretty barren when that big. Why not leave them the same size? If someone has to add controls, they'll be editing the theme anyway and can make it bigger.

This will change the default experience people have today. We should have really good reasons why we that in a non-breaking release.

2. I just accepted a change from an old pull request that makes the edit boxes look "not flat". I accepted that change to make things more consistent. This change goes the other way. <smile/> Not saying that is bad but it seems like we should decide and all move in the same direction. <grin/>

3. Cool, but should the license be floating so far down the page like that? Also, does the text really say "Click install to continue and Close to exit"? Isn't that kind of obvious?

4. Should the Hyperlink version information be lined up with the accept check box the way it is in the RTF theme? Seems like that would look better.

Again, I feel the pages are just too tall now with lots of blank whitespace in them.

I would like to propose the following changes to the RtfLicense
    and HyperlinkLicense UIs in WiX:

1.Resize the dialogs so they are the same size as the standard WiX
    MSI UIs.

2.Change the RtfLicense license textbox so that doesn't have the
odd 3D surround and is flat.

3.Add welcome title and text to HyperlinkLicense.

4.Add optional version number to HyperlinkLicense.

For examples see the first and last two UIs here:
    http://wixextba.codeplex.com/ <http://wixextba.codeplex.com/>.
