You've got it all wrong. MS won't send us specialists... I'd pay the
$1000/hr to have them - they don't exist. MS doesn't have 'installer
consultants' that they rent out to people - all the knowledge is with
internal staffers.

Hell, we're in Seattle, and couldn't even find anyone that could help us
with our installers.

I wrote it's not a personal attack, but the fact that we always have to
use "may work that way", "I think" just means it's totally
undocumented and left to "luck" if you got it or not. And it's a
milestone in wasting programmers time. But hey, I guess MS will be
very happy to send you specialists for just 1000 $ /h. to build your
installer...

The always claim to be on the "simple" side, but hey no it's not good
to just have a directory on a CD ROM copy it over and just run it. No
it has to do the following
1) add a bazzillion entries to the registry
2) just have to replace just a few system DLLs
3) just have to write few dozens .inf files
4) just write a few hundred Custom actions but frown upon them a year
or so later
5) etc.

I'm sorry, but this really gets on my nerves.

but has nothing to do with wix of course.

Friedrich
