Actually I realized what the problem was – I had not nested the remove folder element under the directory that was causing the error. Once nested correctly it did not report the ICE validation error. Thus if the RemoveFile table(or removefolder)entry is not nested under the directory that the validation is checking then it will report an error. I was using a DirectoryRef to execute the remove. Probably should as you say Alex make the documentation more specific… Cheers Benjic From: Alex Cater (via Nabble) [mailto:ml-user+127614-1655852...@n2.nabble.com] Sent: Thursday, 16 April 2009 8:23 AM To: Benjic Subject: Re: [WiX-users] RemoveFile Table Benjic wrote: my point was that we get an error reported. Does that make this a bug..? Technically, I suppose its arguable, but in my opinion it isn't a bug, especially considering that the WiX documentation states that the name attribute is required. The RemoveFile and RemoveFolder elements are, to all intents and purposes, specialisations of the RemoveFile table. I believe the intention is simply to reduce ambiguity in the authoring.
I suggest that this particular issue actually highlights a bug/oversight in the documentation as it should be easy to 'do the right thing'. In this case it would be helpful if the RemoveFile element included at least a See Also to the RemoveFolder element, but preferably an additional sentence and link in the main text.
